Monday Funday

Hello everyone. It has been a minute or more since my last post. Life seems to have gotten the better of me as of late. But, I have had the chance to relax and play today, so I thought I would share what my inky little hands created today.

First up, is a matchbook style card using Kindred Stamps Wacky Holiday set for National Popcorn Day. Products used: Stamp Up cardstock, Memento black dye based ink,Touchfive markers and an old/retired QK popcorn die.

Next up is another Wacky Holiday set from Kindred Stamps. This theme is all about National Blowing Bubbles Day (May 6). Again I used the matchbook style card and used Stampin Up cardstock,Memento black ink, Touchfive markers and a 1 1/2" and 2" EK success circle punches.

I received the new April Kindred Stamps release sets today, so I immediately had to make a couple of cards with the sets.

First up is the Golden Age die set. This set pays homage to those ladies and gentlemen who are Hollywood Icons and legends of stage and screen. I decided to make everything monochromatic with black and grey Stampin Up cardstock, I used Copic marers in neutral shadss of grey/different browns.

  • And finally,a card using the new Kindred Stamps Peace and Love set. I am totally in love with the VW style bus in this set. I used Stampin Up cardstock, KS: swirl stencil and far out shaker pack, Tim Holtz distress ink and Sharpie 1980s marker set.

New Goodies to play with

Oh how I love happy mail days! Now the decision is which one to play with first!

Freshly Squeezed

Just a cute pick me up card using Kindred Stamps "Freshly Squeezed" stamp set.

Hallo!

Hallo!

Welcome to my foray into the blogging world, my name is Vanessa, Nesa to my close friends. I am hoping those who decide to give me a read will enjoy what they see and read, maybe even get a chuckle or two.

I am a working mom to a very wild and rambuctious 5 year old son, and wife to a hard working former Army Engineer who indulges my crafting craziness. I was born and raised in Texas, with the exception of 4 short years in Oklahoma and 1 year in South Carolina. I have worked the past 2 years for a large casino resort hotel near where I live on the overnight shift, and wouldn't have it any other way. I have had other jobs, but I always seem to gravitate back to hospitality and late nights, guess it is that "vampire" nature everyone teases me about.

Amidst all the chaos and insanity that life brings, or sometimes hurls at me with the force of a bullet train, I find a calming serenity in paper crafting and stamping. I have been scrap booking in some form or another for well over 20+ years (more like 30, but I don't like to admit I am getting older sometimes) and card making for the last 15 years. Nothing can beat the calming smell of Staz-On ink, embossing powder, Versamark ink, brand new stamps and crisp cardstock. It is my own recipe for zen. I have been told on occasion that what I do is wonderful, or even asked how I find the time to be creative. The wonderful part, well, I think I am just average, there are plenty of ladies out there who are more talented than myself IMO, but I thank them for the compliment. I am always learning, trying new things, and just keeping it as simple as I can. As to how I find the time, I make the time. Crafting is what saves my sanity, or rather my INsanity sometimes. I can never really be sure if I am the sane one in a world full of crazy, or am I the INsane one in a world full of sanity. So I have decided I live INsanity, a nice cross of both; I'm crazy living IN sanity, hence INsanity. LOL

But enough about that, on to what makes my heart skip a beat, and makes any bad day better....CRAFTING! I am hoping along the way to make new friends in the paper crafting/card making universe, as well as share with others my favorite stamp companies, crafters, and paper companies. So please, sit back, relax, grab a cup of Joe or maybe a cuppa tea, glass of wine, bottle of beer, soda, gallon of Texas Sweet Tea, water, or whatever wets your whistle and enjoy what my crafty life has to offer you.
